Judy has been a Three Principles practitioner and educator for four decades, serving individuals and groups from all walks of life in the US and abroad.
She is a graduate of Wellesley College (BA), Trinity College of Hartford, CT (MA) and West Virginia University (EdD). She started her career as an English teacher in both high school and college until she was able to realize her dream of being a journalist after settling in Florida. She became a prize-winning reporter and ultimately was named Editor of the Sunday Magazine of The St. Petersburg Times. When she needed to keep a more regular schedule as her daughter grew up, she founded a medical practice management company. Through that work, she met Dr. Bill Pettit, then a Psychiatrist in Bradenton, FL, who introduced her to the Three Principles, which was the basis of his practice. As she saw the results of his work with patients, she realized that she felt called to join the effort to spread the understanding of the Principles to raise public awareness of the innate capacity in all human beings to find their natural resilience and live at peace.
She sold her business and moved to LaConner, WA to join Pransky and Associates, one of the first organizations dedicated to developing the potential of this work to transform the understanding of mental health. After 9 years there, she was invited to join the faculty of the Medical School of West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV. In her 13 years there, she developed and offered an array of 3P-based services and taught graduate courses in Community Medicine grounded in the Principles. She was inducted into the Academy of Excellence in Teaching and Learning at WVU School of Medicine, was one ofRevisions for Judy Bio on 3pgc site the founders of the Faculty Development program, and was elected to the Faculty Senate. Judy was recognized directly by Sydney Banks as a Practitioner of the Three Principles in 2004.
She left WVU in 2009. She is currently a Mental Health Mentor serving individuals and organizations, and is a frequent seminar speaker, both in the U.S. and internationally.
